She can talk about things that interest her. (with description)

 

 

She can talk to others.  She knows that she has to talk differently to different people.  (Parents, friends, distant relative, neighbour etc..)

 

 

She begins to give detail and describes things

 

 

She listens carefully to you and others.

 

 

She can recognise and read familiar words in stories without stopping.

 

 

She can read aloud and when she comes to a difficult word she tries to read it by pronouncing it.

 

 

She can understand correctly what she reads.  (Some children are good readers but they don't understand what they read)

 

 

She can use full stops correctly in writing.

 

 

She can write alphabet letters in the correct way, clearly.  (The children have to be shown the correct way to write each letter)

 

 

She can write a group of sentences starting with capital letter and ending with full stops.

 

 

She can write sentences using same size letters. (some children write in different sizes even within one sentence, word)

 

 

She knows the spelling for common words. (check the resources for the list)
